Philanthropy at the Fort!

For most of us summer is a time to relax a bit, enjoy our families, vacation and otherwise act like a kid! Of course, here at Fort Rapids we know all about the fun of summer! We learn from the masters of fun—the kids!

However, as we enjoy the sun-filled, playful days of summer we also remember that there are greater responsibilities and that we can make a difference. Every month our company, takles part in a number of charitable activities and we wanted to share two important events with you, our customers and guests.

First, on July 23rd from 10 AM – 4 PM, Fort Rapids will host the American Red Cross for a community blood drive. The Red Cross holds blood drives at locations across the country allowing the average person to take on the role of a hero to save another’s life.

We hope that everyone has a safe, well as enjoyable summer but the reality is that tragedy can occur and there will be a need for blood transfusions. We all expect blood to be there for us, but barely a fraction of those who can give do. Yet sooner or later, virtually all of us will face a time of great vulnerability in which we will need blood. And that time is all too often unexpected. For this reason we planned this event and invite the community and our guests an opportunity to participate with us by giving blood. See our flyer for all the details. Take the opportunity to help save a life—and , oh, by the way, donors will receive a discounted $10.00 waterpark daypass for their efforts. (free cookies and juice from the Red Cross too!)

Additionally, on July 30, we will be acting as a drop location for Volunteers of America, Operation Backpack. Many homeless and needy students return to school in the fall without the supplies they need. This service project allows the community to rally around the less fortunate and purchase a new backpack which is, in turn, donated to a child in need. Again, anyone who participates in this project at our location will be rewarded with a discounted admission ticket! See the attached flyer for additional details.
